About Hank...
Hank Yeung is a third-year international undergraduate LLB student from Hong Kong. As the Liaison Officer of the University of Bristol Law Club (UBLC) Negotiation Committee, Hank liaises with sponsoring law firms and works with other committee members to provide assistance in the organisation of negotiation competitions. Hank will also explore options for additional international negotiation competitions which members of the UBLC can take part in the coming year.
Prior to university, Hank graduated with a dual-diploma at an international school in Hong Kong. Committed to a future career as a practicing solicitor, Hank has attended multiple legal internships in Hong Kong and London, one of which touched upon cross-border arbitration. Intrigued by the practicality and growing importance of negotiation and alternative dispute resolution in the legal industry, Hank is particularly interested in developing areas of legal practice, such as arbitration and new technologies.
As a quarterfinalist and semi-finalist in the 2016 and 2017 negotiation competitions, Hank believes that negotiation can help law students develop key skills that are applicable to a career as a commercial lawyer. The interesting scenarios provided in competitions would also allow students to step into the shoes of a practicing solicitor while devising a mutually-beneficial outcome for both parties in a limited timeframe. Hank hopes to increase the awareness of negotiation competitions, thus allowing law students to gain an early insight into the work of a commercial lawyer.
