About
The UBLC strives to unify our members and students and has been at the forefront of many initiatives to increase inclusion and belonging within the University. In the past, we have organised events discussing and exploring issues students may face trying to access a career in law. Our panels have included a range of leading professionals identifying key barriers such as socio-economic background, ethnicity and sexual orientation. We identify challenges and discuss solutions with the aim of making the legal profession accessible and attractive to underrepresented groups.
To enhance and diversify the exposure our members receive we collaborate with fellow societies to host rich and thought-provoking talks such as our joint event with ‘the 93% club’: Best and brightest? Or best resourced and best connected?
We want to put more emphasis on the importance of inclusivity and diversity within student societies and have accordingly introduced a blind application process for our most important opportunities. In doing so, we believe our members will feel secure when applying.
The UBLC is supported by a range of organisations that are devoted to the same goals we are. Including: Aspiring Solicitors, Rare Recruitment and SEO London.
